SHARON FINNAN-WHITE BLACKROO FIRST NATIONS ACADEMY OF EXCELLENCE (FNAE)

Founded by Sharon Finnan-White OAM, a proud Dunghutti, Gumbaynggirr, and Biripi woman and Australian Netball Diamond and former Firebirds Captain, FNAE is committed to building future leaders through high-performance sport and cultural empowerment. Sharon’s leadership and legacy continue to inspire a new generation of First Nations excellence in netball. FNAE has programs and teams operating in Townsville, Cairns, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. Soon to be established in
Muswellbrook NSW.

    We strengthen identity and connection through community visits, yarning circles, cultural ceremonies, and participation in events like NAIDOC and Reconciliation Week. Our programs honour Elders and traditions while supporting local First Nations businesses.

    FNAE supports holistic development, advocating for success beyond sport by creating access to education, leadership, and employment opportunities.

  • SFW Scholarship Program

    Financial support for athletes, coaches and umpires who represent at state or national level. We remove barriers for regional and remote athletes, ensuring all aspiring First Nations players, coaches, and umpires have a pathway to success.

    From mindset coaching and recovery strategies to nutrition, goal setting, and selection readiness, our training builds self-awareness, resilience, and elite performance habits.

    We prepare participants with essential life and career skills, offering guidance on professional pathways within and beyond sport.

    One-on-one and group mentoring helps participants stay motivated, culturally grounded, and focused on their long-term goals.
